Anyone who runs for a Board position is to be acknowledged as courageous and as a servant to the community. I would like to say thank you to all current and previous Board members who have stuck their neck out there and served our community and students in this way. Many people can criticize the actions and decisions of elected officials; few people are called to actually serve and fix issues that we have. Despite the backlash that is quickly given to members of the Board, I would like to thank all of you for taking the risk and serving the WCSD and constituents.
This is not to say that mistakes haven't been made. Clearly, the distrust and uneasiness toward the current Board cannot be ignored. By taking a risk and running, I am boldly proclaiming that I will do my absolute best to heal the gap that has been created between the Board of Trustees and the taxpayers of Washoe County.
That is my promise. I desire for there to be open lines of communication and for the relationship between Board members and their constituents to be fluid and non-hostile. As it stands now, there are some serious issues that need to be resolved in this area.
Take a look at my personal track record. I am an honest and transparent communicator, from my writings and public speaking experience, to my classroom and interactions with students and staff members. I understand what it takes to help fix the public relations issues plaguing the WCSD Board of Trustees.
