I never get offended. What it affords me is the opportunity to explain why this election and vote is important to all members of the community and taxpayers of District D, regardless if they have children attending Washoe County School District or not. I love educating everyone, not just my students.
Here are the reasons it is important to vote for your representative on the Board of Trustees in November 2016:
1) All tax money that is collected and used for infrastructure in our community is collected from every member of my district, regardless if they have children attending WCSD institutions or not.
2) All expenditures (your tax dollars) in the community are decided upon by elected representatives as to how they are spent and where. A fiscally responsible and transparent representative is needed to make our community, and in this case, our futures, a better, more productive Washoe County area.
3) Education of our students is the backbone of an empowered community and society. What we value is often reflected in where our money is allocated. If we value our future community members (our students), then we should responsibly invest in their future through education.
It all boils down to whom you trust to make decisions for the positive future of our community. The election of your next Board of Trustee member in District D will have a lasting impact on our community as a whole. Our students will become the overseers of our government, our civil services, our businesses, and all entities that impact every one of us.
As a parent, teacher and communicator, I desire with all of my being to affect our community in positive ways, through serving our future community members in education. The Board of Trustees in the WCSD represents every taxpayer, regardless of a household's status of having children or not. The implications of electing the right person impacts us all.
